Surge is a
modern youth group driven to help students find answers and
develop decision making skills for the future! Our goal is
to provide a safe, fun, environment where teenagers can surge
forward in life!
But
what is it really?
Well,
Surge is the youth ministry of
East City Wesleyan
Church which is part of the
Wesleyan
Methodist Church of New Zealand and the
Wesleyan Church worldwide.
The Wesleyan church is a evangelical holiness denomination that is
rooted in the biblical teachings of John Wesley. If you want

 Surge
is led by Rev. Drew Donovan and his wife Amy who are missionaries
from Canada through
Global
Partners. The youth group meets at the Highland Park
Community House at 47 Aviemore Dr. Auckland NZ. We meet from
6-8pm every Sunday evening and have a youth cafe which follows
from 8-9pm.
The purpose of
Surge is to help teens grow in Christ Jesus and have a place of
community in which they learn to live as Christ would have them to
live. Our focus is in 5 main areas described by our name.
Surrender in
Worship: Teens
are encouraged to surrender their lives to Christ and to bow down
in acts of worship to our Saviour Jesus Christ! This worship
is a lifestyle of obedience to God in reverence to him and his
gift of grace.
Unite in
Community: Students are given a safe place to have fun and learn while
growing in life skills needed to excel.
Respond in
Devotion: Students
are encouraged to respond to God's love by devoting our time and
energy to the pursuit of holiness and following His will for our
lives.
Gracious in
Outreach: Surge
also exists to share the love of Christ with those in our circle
of influence. Teens are encouraged to be part of reach out
with the good news of Christ to the world around them.
Embody in Service:
Christ was the
greatest example of love through service. God has taught us
to love others and by helping to meet the needs of those less
fortunate in the world we show the love of Christ and embody him
to the world.
